Choosing a good skateboard can be tricky, if you're a beginner in the sport. There's a lot that you have to take into account, in addition to the cost. You have to also consider the complete board, the deck, the trucks, and the wheels, whether you're buying a ready-made skateboard or are putting together your own. Once you understand what makes a good skateboard, you'll be hitting up the skate parks in no time.

The right skateboard deck shape for you depends on your size and the style of skateboarding you plan to do. Decks come in many different widths, and you should choose your skateboard based on deck width, not length, according to these general guidelines: Micro deck: Micro decks have a width of six and a half to six and three-quarter inches.

Go to your local skate shop and let them assemble one, or buy a complete skateboard online. A kid skateboard costs around $70 and up, look for anything between 7″ and 8″ wide and length 27″ to 31″. If you don’t have any knowledge about skateboards don’t try to assemble one yourself.
